Board Meeting
November
18, 2002 – 7:00 p.m.

The
following is provided as an unofficial summary of the above dated meeting of the
Hardy County Board of Education. Official
copies of the minutes may be obtained, once they are approved by the Hardy
County Board of Education, by contacting Jeanette Keller, Executive Secretary to
the Superintendent, 510 Ashby Street, Moorefield WV 26836, (304) 538-2348.
The
meeting was held at Moorefield Elementary School as part of the Board of
Education visits to each school. The
Educational Feature was a presentation by the second grade class of Mrs.
Keplinger. A series of
presentations of stories and skits related to Thanksgiving were presented.
These were well received by everyone present, and the students and
teachers were commended for their work.
The
Board reviewed the results of the Bond Election and discussed options for
addressing facility needs. The
Board agreed to continue to review information with the goal of making a
decision regarding future actions after the first of the year.
The
Board reviewed the waiver request for Exam Exemptions from EHHS.
After discussion, the Board agreed to grant the waiver for the second
semester of 2002-2003.
The
Board reviewed the two State policies currently on comment, Uniform Grading
Scale and revised Student Code of Conduct.
In both cases the Board agreed that a letter of support for these
policies should be forwarded to the WVBOE.
The
Board reviewed the SBA Needs Project for the current year.
As the project was contingent upon providing local funds through the
Building Bond, it was necessary to notify the SBA that the project must be
withdrawn.
A
report on the Food Service Audit conducted in the fall was provided.
The audit showed correction of previous findings and an overall excellent
report. The Food Service program
was commended for the excellent report.
A
Field Based Education Agreement with Shepherd College was approved.
This is a continuation of the agreement to permit student teachers in
Hardy County.
A
request for transferring a student to Grant County was approved.
In

The next meeting of the Hardy County Board of Education will be a special meeting on December 9th, 7:00 p. m. at East Hardy Early/ Middle School.
