SUMMARY

The meeting was held at Moorefield High School as part of the Board of Education visits to each school.  The first Educational Feature was a presentation by Teacher Charlotte Hill and her Health II students.  It included a powerpoint presentation on basic Character Education traits and how they were incorporated into Homecoming week.  The second presentation was by students in Mrs. Petry’s Creative Writing class.  Examples of their writing and the techniques that are being used were provided.  These were well received by everyone present, and the students and teachers were commended for their work.

The Board reviewed the work of the Bond Support Committee and reviewed several items of information related to the Bond.

An update was given to the Board on changes in the presentation schedule for the SBA.  The changes will not affect the funding amounts or dates.

The Board approved a first reading of county policy “Title I Parent Involvement”.  This policy is required under NCLB.  It will go out for public comment.

A preliminary report on the School Audit was provided.  The audit showed correction of previous findings and an overall excellent report.  The Auditors in the areas dealing with required purchase orders, travel reimbursement requirements, and required purchase orders when certain contracts are issued requested revisions in procedures.  The Superintendent reported that steps have already been taken to address these areas.
