Special Board Meeting

September 30, 2002 – 7:00 p.m.

The following is provided as an unofficial summary of the above dated meeting of the Hardy County Board of Education. SUMMARY

The Board received a status report on the current enrollment and the personnel ratio. With the increase in enrollment it was identified that four additional positions in professional personnel could be hired. Service personnel, due to the recent additional of aides and cook/custodian, is at formula.

After discussion with regard to the best alternatives for placing the students, and upon the recommendations of the principals, the following positions were posted:

Ø Kindergarten Teacher – East Hardy Early/Middle School

Ø Special Education Teacher, LD/BD/MI – Moorefield Elementary School

Ø Teacher for Math/Science, Grades 5-8 – Moorefield Middle School

Ø Teacher for Social Studies/Special Education – Moorefield High School

The Board received an update on the NCLB Grant Application for 2002-2003. Primary focus will be on Alternative Scheduling, Professional Preparation for Teachers, and Staff Development related to Reading and Assured Readiness Learning.

The next regular meeting of the Hardy County Board of Education is October 7^th, 7:00 p. m. at East Hardy High School.
