HARDY
COUNTY SCHOOLS
Regular
School Board Meeting
July
21, 2003 7:00 p.m.
The
following is provided as an unofficial summary of the above dated meeting of the
Hardy County Board of Education. Official
copies of the minutes may be obtained, once they are approved by the Hardy
County Board of Education, by contacting Jeanette Keller, Executive Secretary to
the Superintendent, 510 Ashby Street, Moorefield WV 26836, (304) 538 2348.
SUMMARY
The meeting began
with several presentations.
Mr. And Mrs. Vic
Shockey, representing the Moorefield Educational Enhancement Organization, came
before the Board to discuss the upcoming Bond Levy.
After extensive discussion they went on record in support of the Bond,
identified a number of actions they are going to take, and urged other citizens
throughout the county to also come forward to assist.
Mr. Dave Wilbur
presented his annual attendance report. The
rates for last year meet or exceed state averages.
While there was some decline, this was attributed to the loss of the
Truancy Diversion program and the changes in State law regarding options for
addressing truancy. The Board
expressed appreciation to Mr. Wilbur for his excellent work.
In other action:
- The
Board received a presentation on the Secondary Block scheduling planning.
Efforts are underway to address pacing guides, policies and
procedures, parent information, and evaluation.
- Policy
GBLA Service Personnel Evaluation Policy was approved.
- The
county attendance policy, as approved by the State, was adopted.
It includes the provision that the policy go out for comment in order
