Regular Board Meeting
May 5, 2003 – 7:00 p.m.

following is provided as an unofficial summary of the above dated meeting of the
Hardy County Board of Education. Official

The meeting began by recognizing the students, and their parents, who were selected for the Governors Academies: Ben Hines, Katie Fisher, Thad Garrett, and Scott Hammer.
A presentation was given by Linda Wright, teacher, on behalf of the Secondary Alternative Scheduling Committee. Discussion was held with regard to the work that has been done and their recommendations. The Board approved adoption of the “Four by Four” schedule, with modifications. Support was pledged for the upcoming year in providing professional development, development of policies, and designing appropriately staffed instructional schedules.
The Board was provided Levy information on the upcoming Building Bond and informed of a work session on May 12, 6:30 at the School Board Office with the members of the Bond Steering Committee.
The Board received a copy of the “School of Choice” notice sent to all parents at EHEM.
Approval was granted for purchasing three new buses for next school year.
Under Public Comment, a delegation representing the Moorefield High School Athletic Boosters shared concerns regarding the addition of Soccer as an additional sport at MHS.
