The following is provided as an unofficial summary of the above dated meeting of the Hardy County Board of Education.  Official copies of the minutes may be obtained, once they are approved by the Hardy County Board of Education, by contacting Jeanette Keller, Executive Secretary to the Superintendent, 510 Ashby Street, Moorefield WV 26836, (304) 530-2348.

SUMMARY

The meeting began with the annual LSIC presentations.

The Board expressed commendation to both schools for their excellent work and the success they are achieving.

The Hardy County Extension Service provided its annual update on their programs and their specific efforts to help the students of Hardy County.  Included was the annual request for funding.  The Board thanked them for their work and promised to review their request in the determination of the budget for next year.

Max Park and Ron Whetzel provided an update on the recent legislative visit.  Special thanks were expressed to Delegate Michael, Delegate Mezzatesta, and Senator Helmick for taking the time to meet with them.

A news release was presented regarding Hardy County Schools being selected for a national television broadcast over the Discovery Channel.

Mrs. Hammer provided an update on the extensive summer school programs being made available this year.  For the first time sessions will be available throughout the school system for elementary through secondary schools.

The Board reviewed the current tax rates for the outstanding Building Bond.  It was noted that the amount of taxes to be paid would be substantially reduced for the last year of the bond.  While the Board could have chosen other options to recapture this money, it was felt that would not be keeping with the original intent and purposes of the original bond.

Several Out-of-County transfers were approved.
