The
following is provided as an unofficial summary of the above dated meeting of the
Hardy County Board of Education. Official

SUMMARY
The meeting began
with the annual student recognition by the Hardy County Board of Education.
Students and their parents were present to receive tokens of
accomplishment for their work. Included
were: Young Writers, Character Education Survey, Golden Horseshoe, International
Science Fair, State Math Field Day, and Writing Assessment.
The Board thanked the student, and parents for their hard work.
The Board went
through a second reading for a number of polices.
These were approved with the exception of DDFC- Guidelines for
Fundraising which is to receive further revisions and be brought back to the
Board.
Moorefield
Elementary School was recognized for its achievement of WV School of Excellence.
The Board reviewed
and approved granting the propane gas bid to Holtzman Oil Company.
Discussion was
held on current facilities needs and possible future actions.
The members reviewed a survey designed to gather community input and
directed the Superintendent to revise the survey for Hardy County to be reviewed
further for possible use.

Mission Statement
Accomplishments:
- Mr.
Funkhouser congratulated Mrs. Coppe and MES for their outstanding
achievement.
- Mr.
Park extended a personal thanks to the staff of MES for the work they have
accomplished with his son. It
has been his best year of school. Also
commended the MHS Chorus and the MMS and EHHS FFA for their outstanding
banquets.
- Mr.
Fertig commended the students who were recognized for their efforts.
Noted that he had recently attended the MHS Band Concert, and they
did a good job.
- Mr.
Pack commended the parents of the students who were in attendance.
It is their support that results in outstanding student
accomplishments.
- Mr.
Williams commended Megan Mathias and Rachel Weese for being state tennis
champions.
- Mrs.
Hammer thanked the MHS foods class for providing refreshments to various
school functions. They are
doing a great job.
- Mr.
Whetzel noted that Katie Fisher received the Canaan Valley Conference
Sportsman ship award and commended the MHS girls softball players and
parents for their assistance to a visiting player.
The next regular
meeting of the Hardy County Board of Education will be held June 7th,
7:00 p.m. at MHS. The Board will
give recognition to retirees and announce the Teacher of the Year.
