The following is provided as an unofficial summary of the above dated meeting of the Hardy County Board of Education. SUMMARY

Items of Business Included:

§ The Board was provided information on the Summer Training programs being set up for Professional and Service staff. It was reported that this is the most comprehensive and extensive summer training schedule that has been established in a number of years.

§ The Board was informed that the BRIM (Board of Risk) has increased the deductible charge to school systems from $1000 to $2500 beginning July 1, 2004.

§ Discussion was held on options for additional needed portable classrooms at MES. The Board directed that these be secured for the upcoming year.

§ The Board reviewed the meeting schedule and items for the remainder of the current school year.

Mission Statement Accomplishments

Mr. Funkhouser commended EHHS Baseball team for their 20 – 3 record.
Mr. Park commented the MMS Choir for their outstanding performance. Reported on the recent MES “authors tea” and student presentations. An excellent activity.
Mr. Fertig congratulated Taylor Kuykendall for his success at the State Science Fair and wished Taylor and Adam Judy good luck at the International Science Fair in Portland Oregon.
Mr. Pack commended Mr. Whetzel and Mrs. Hammer and all the individuals involved in setting up the summer training opportunities. These should serve to benefit students next fall.
Mr. Williams: Noted that it has been a pleasure to serve with Red and Max and wished them well in the upcoming election. Extended good luck to the MHS and EHHS softball teams. They both are excellent representatives of Hardy County.
Mrs. Hammer noted that it has been a pleasure working with the Board this year. Commended Wanda Benshaver and the MHS tennis team, with four players going to State.
Mr. Whetzel congratulated Timothy Jopling for his success in the EDGE competition. Reported to the Board that the Pat Summerall production will be aired on June 29^th, 7:00 a.m. on the Discovery channel. A special tape of this broadcast will be sent to Hardy County Schools for additional use.

The next regular meeting of the Hardy County Board of Education is scheduled for May 24^th, 7:00 p.m. at the hardy County Board of Education Offices.
