The
following is provided as an unofficial summary of the above dated meeting of the
Hardy County Board of Education. Official

SUMMARY
Presentations:
The LSICs of East Hardy High School, East Hardy Early/Middle School, and
Moorefield Middle School each presented their annual LSIC updates.
Information was provided on the school’s goals related to student
achievement, specific activities to accomplish these, specific recommendations
and needs, and positives related to the school.
The overall presentations were excellent, and the Board was most
appreciative of the hard work being conducted at each school on behalf of
students.
In other actions
the Board:
- approved
adjusting the school calendar to have March 29, 30, 31, and April 1 as
make-up days for lost instructional days.
July 7th will remain an OS day unless another day is lost.
- reviewed
policy GEE – Volunteer Coaches and agreed to not change the policy
requiring approval of non-coach athletic volunteers.
- discussed
activities by the Board and administrative staff to recognize students and
staff during May.
- announced
Suzanne Goodall as winner of the Education Alliance Mini-Grant for Hardy
County.
- reviewed
and approved letting of Bids for summer mowing.
Pubic Comment:
- Larry
Salyers had questions regarding the status of roof replacement at MES,
condition of the “old furnace room” at MHS, and status of parent bills
for hot lunch.
- Brian
Wilson had questions regarding
the requirements for Volunteer Coaches and the source of these regulations.

School teaching position at MMS.

School Teacher at EHEM with Math 5-8 certification for 2005-2006.

Teacher at EHEM for 2005-2006.
- Art
Teacher, K-12, at East Hardy Schools for 2005-2006.
Mission Statement
Accomplishments
- Each
member commended the LSIC of the schools for their excellent presentations
and involvement in the schools.
- Mr.
Park reminded everyone of the Ham Bacon and Egg show on March 10th
and noted the regional cooperation and support for this event.
- Mr.
Pack commended former MHS student, Mitch Webster, for the success of
Petersburg Girls Basketball Team.
- Mr.
Williams commended the MHS Boys Basketball team for winning the sectionals.
- Mrs.
Hammer commended the EHHS Dream Quest team for their achievement and wished
them good luck at the State competition.

- Mr.
Whetzel commended the Board members for their efforts to support and
recognize students and staff.
The next meeting
of the Hardy County Board of Education is scheduled for March 14th,
2005 at Moorefield Elementary School.
