SUMMARY

 

 

Business Items:

 

?          Leave Donation Policy #GBRA – The Board approved the Personnel Leave Donation policy as submitted.

 

?          EHEMS Focus Group Report – Mrs. Rebecca Brill and Ms. Barbara Whitecotton provided a report on the work of the EHEMS Focus Group.  Information on the areas of work being addressed and the efforts to secure additional community input.  Based upon the work of the group recommendations will be made to the Board regarding future plans, including school reorganizations.

 

Public Comments:

 

?          There was no public comments

 

Personnel Items:

 

?          President, Ray Funkhouser, set the date to have the Supeintendent’s Annual Evaluation forms returned to him, by May 15, 2008.  The evaluation will be completed at the next regular School Board Meeting held on May 19, 2008.

 

?          The Board approved to employ the following:

 

·         Hollie Frame – Physical Education Teacher – MES/MIS

·         Justin Campbell – Substitute Teacher, effective May 08, 2008

·         Joan E. Mitchell – Substitute Teacher, effective May 08, 2008

·         Stephanie Ours – Secretary II/Accountant II – Moorefield High School, effective July 01, 2008, 230-day employment term, transferred at her request, she will be removed from the RIF list.

·         Amy Eye – Custodian III – Moorefield Elementary School – 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., 240-day employment term, effective at the opening of the MIS school building in the Fall/Winter of 2008-2009, transferred at her request.

·         Ronnie Crites – Extra Duty Bus Operator – two weeks beginning May 6, 2008 through May 14, 2008, Moorefield attendance area, pickup students at 4:45 p.m. at Moorefield Schools.  Not to exceed one hour per day, $17.50 per day, as needed, excluding Election Day.  Funded through the Migrant Grant through WVDE.

?          Josh See – Head Varsity Football Coach – Moorefield High School

?          Interim Coach – Girls’ Track, East Hardy High School, covering for Devin Hamilton

 

?          The Board approved the following postings:

 

·         Spanish / ESL – Countywide, 200 day employment term, must be certified to teach Spanish I in High School.

·         English/Language Arts – Moorefield High School, Grades 9-12

·         Art Teacher – East Hardy Schools, must be certified in Art K-12.

·         Athletic Director – Moorefield High School, 2008-2009 school year

·         Head Boys’ Basketball Coach – East Hardy High School, 2008-2009 school year

·         Varsity Cheerleading Coach – East Hardy High School, 2008-2009 school year

·         Varsity Golf Coach – East Hardy High School, 2008-2009 school year

 

«          The Board approved the following transfer for the 2008-2009 school year:

 

·         Lea Whetzel

·         Bridgett Billmeyer

 

«          The Board approved the following letters of agreement:

 

·         Lisa Walker – Bus Operator – change bus route starting and ending point

 

«          The Board approved the following reclassification of service personnel

 

·         Theresa Rudy – Secretary III / Accountant III

·         Loy Kesner – Custodian II

·         Harry Smith – Custodian III

·         Blanche Sager – Cook II

·         Sabrina Hines – Cook III

·         Suzanne Hawkins – Cook II

 

«          The Board approved the following:

 

·         Martin Schenck – Social Studies teacher at East Hardy Early Middle School – removals from the RIF list due to reinstatement of the Director of Student Support program.

 

Mission Statement Accomplishments:

 

«          Mr. Ray Funkhouser expressed thanks for the Personnel Report; it was well done.

 

«          Mr. Kenneth Pack noted the weight loss program for the staff at MMS and his participation.

 

«          Mr. Max Park reported on Steven Funk, MHS Graduate, as a candidate of the American Star Farmer Award.

 

«          Mr. Rick Perkins noted Justina Helmick, MHS Graduate, would be attending Law School.  An example of the success that can be achieved when school staff, students and parents work together.

 

«          Mrs. Margaret Shriver reported on the outstanding band concerts that were conducted.

 

«          Ms. Barbara Whitecotton reported that Hardy County is ready for the Westest.  School staff has been working hard to get to this point.

 

«          Mrs. Sharon Hammer reported that Tanner Carr, student at MES, came in Fourth at the State Math Field Day.

 

«          Mr. Ronald Whetzel commented on the Baker Park opening and the work and foresight of Board members over 30 years ago to make this day possible.

 

The next regular meeting of the Hardy County Board is May 19, 2008, at 7:00 p.m., at the Hardy County Board of Education Office.
