Ron Whetzel has served
as Superintendent of Hardy County Schools since July 1, 1999. Mr.
Whetzel began his career as an elementary teacher and later worked as an
administrator in Berkeley County Schools, WV. In 1980 he moved to Pendleton
County, WV, where he served as a Principal, Assistant Superintendent and
Superintendent. In 1990 he moved to
Giles County, Virginia, and served as a Director of Curriculum until assuming
the position in Hardy County.
While
he was born and raised in Virginia, his parents are both natives of Hardy
County,
He is a member of the American Association of School Administrators and various other professional and civic organizations.
He and his wife reside in Moorefield, West Virginia.
