NATIONAL
FORESTS
Monogahela National Forest
The
Monogahela National Forest covers an extensive area of the State and includes
many interesting sights which are as follows: Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob,
(WV Blue Book 1998, p. 871)
The George Washington and Jefferson National Forests extend into West Virginia with the majority of acreage located in Virginia. Approximately 104,866 acres of the George Washington and 18,526 acres of the Jefferson are present in this state. Both forests extend into Hampshire, Hardy, Pendleton, and Monroe Counties of West Virginia. (WV Blue Book 1998, p. 871)

Cheat River
The
Cheat River is formed by the junction
of the Black Fork River at Parsons, West Virginia; the mouth of the Cheat
junctions with the Monongahela River at Point Marion, Pennsylvania. (WV Blue

Potomac
River
The
Potomac River is formed from the junction of the North and South Branches near
Green Spring, Hampshire County; the mouth of the river flows into the Chesapeake
Bay. (WV Blue Book 1998, p. 825)
The
North Branch of the Potomac River has its source near Fairfax Stone, which marks
the comers of Grant, Preston, and Tucker Counties; the mouth junctions with the
South Branch of the Potomac River near Green Spring, Hampshire County. (WV Blue

The
South Branch of the Potomac River has its source located near Hightown, Highland
County,
