Comprehensive Educational Facilities Plan

What is a “CEFP”?   The state of West Virginia requires every school system to prepare and annually update their plans for school facility needs.  These are filed with the state and are reviewed in determining the allocation of funds through the School Building Authority.

What is the status of the Hardy County CEFP?  The plan was developed in the spring of 1999 and approved that fall.  Extensive meetings were held throughout the county with many opportunities for employee, parents and community input.  The current plan has been reviewed and reaffirmed by the Hardy County Board of Education in September 2001.

Can I get information on the CEFP?  Yes, the entire plan is available for review at the Hardy County Board of Education office.

What are the basic components of the plan?  A brief summary of the plans for each school include

What are the immediate plans for the county?  In October a request will be forwarded to the School Building Authority for additional renovation work to EHHS mechanical systems, replacement of lockers, and possibly work to address water problems.  In January a request will be forwarded to the School Building Authority for funds to construct a cafeteria at MES.  Both of these are identified in the CEFP.

What are the long-range plans for the county?  The Hardy County Board of Education has gone on record to review the school systems overall needs, seek additional community input, and develop a comprehensive plan to address all of the facility needs.  This may include a request to run a local Bond to provide funds that can be used to match School Building Authority funds, for projects they will approve.  Local funds, raised through the Bond, could be used to address facility needs that the School Building Authority will not support.
