Social Studies - (Current Event) - Watch a news clip and write a one paragraph summary

ELA – Read a book independently for 30 minutes (compose a short summary of your reading)

Math - 1. Find 5-10 items in your kitchen with price tags or estimate their cost.

2. Write down the prices and add them together to find the total cost.

3. If you had a $20 (or $50) bill, how much change would you get? Show your work.

4. If each item's price increased by $1.50, what would the new total be?

Science - Design and build different paper airplane models. Test which design flies the farthest and measure the distance. Create a graph that shows the average distance of your two designs

Specials – Listen to a song and identify 3 instruments that are used

NTID Day 2

Social Studies – Create a one pager depicting the Geography, Religion, Achievements, Politics, Economy, and Social Structure of a civilization

ELA - Choose a household item that is SCHOOL APPROPRIATE! Come up with a new or ridiculous purpose for the item (maybe it's deodorant that also stops radiator leaks, or a hammer that can be used as a blender. Then, create a 30 second commercial of you selling the product for its new purpose.

Math - 1. Assign each letter of the alphabet a number (A=1, B=2, C=3, etc.). 2. Write a secret message using numbers instead of letters. 3. Solve a math problem using the code (e.g., What does 5 + 3 spell? Answer: H, since H=8). 4. Challenge a family member to decode your message!

Science - Create a mini water cycle model using a clear plastic bag. Fill with a small amount of water and tape it to a sunny window. Observe and label evaporation and condensation. Take or draw a picture of your model and submit to your teacher

Specials - Write down what you ate today and record what items could have been produced on a West Virginia Farm.

NTID Day 3

Social Studies - Create a brochure that makes people want to come visit the town that you live in.

ELA - Complete a grammar scavenger hunt in any text you can find in your home. Find one example of each sentence structure type: simple, compound, complex, and compound complex. Find a simple recipe at home (or make one up)

. 2. List at least 3 ingredients and their measurements.

3. Double or halve the recipe—what are the new measurements?

4. If the recipe serves 4 people but you need to serve 6, how do you adjust the ingredients?

Science - Define the terms biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, environmental, Earth science. Then, choose 10 activities from your day and categorize each activity into one of the sciences above.

Specials - Prepare yourself and someone in your household something to eat. Follow proper safety and sanitation procedures.

NTID Day 4

Social Studies - You just got hired and make $3,000 a month. Create a simple budget that allows you to live within your means (housing, utilities, car, food, other)

ELA - Compose or find a poem that accurately represents the weather and mood of the day.

Math - 1. Write a fun short story (3-5 sentences) that includes numbers (e.g., “I baked 12 cupcakes. I gave 3 to my friend. How many are left?”).

2. Add two more math problems into your story.

3. Solve all the math problems and show your work.

4. Bonus: Ask a family member to solve your story problems!

Science - Choose a houseplant or outdoor plant to observe and draw in detail over a day. Take notes on its characteristics, such as leaf or bud shape, color, and any visible changes. Attempt to identify the plant, using a human or internet resource.

Specials - Look up body weight exercises on YouTube and complete the workout.

NTID Day 5

Social Studies - Choose a historical figure who has impacted the world and write a paragraph about him/her.

ELA - Play a word game (Scrabble, Boggle, Scattergories, Crossword Puzzle, Word Seach, etc.) Take a screen shot or a picture of your completed game.

Math - 1. Pick 5 objects at home and estimate their length in inches or centimeters.

2. Use a ruler or tape measure to check your estimates.

3. Write the actual length next to your estimate. How close were you?

4. Convert at least one measurement from inches to centimeters (1 inch = 2.54 cm).

Science - Record and draw today’s weather observations including temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind speed, etc

Specials - Sketch an item that you ate today. Should be 3 sketches (Original, after 1 st bite, and after 3rd bite)
