We could not be more proud and excited to announce our Moorefield Intermediate School Teacher of the Year: Ms. Janae Billmeyer
It has been a pleasure to have her join MIS this year after over 20 years in Hardy County Schools teaching at East Hardy. She has joined our team with a vast amount of knowledge and experience. Her students would tell you how much they have enjoyed their year. These students have made significant improvements and showing the hard work is paying off! Ms. Billmeyer has not missed a beat, as she left the Kindergarten level and moved to 4th grade. There is no doubt that these students have been truly blessed this year with an incredible teacher!

As part of the Leader in Me program and the growth mindset learning that we did in our classroom, our class learned how to find the "good things" and kindness that was happening around them. We weren't perfect but we certainly learned to use the Leader in Me program to see and do leadership skills, responsibility and accountability, teamwork and collaboration, empowerment and student voice. One way we did this was having a classroom job called an "Affirmer". Each week 2 people looked for the "good things" that happened in our room. In order to be a good Leader, one must learn to see how others are performing so that they can learn the importance of working together as a community.
